SoFi Stadium Express: Free Metro Shuttle for Rams, Chargers

The SoFi Stadium Express, a free Metro shuttle, will run for every Rams and Chargers game this season, Metro said on Oct. 30. It also covers the playoffs and the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium on Feb. 14. Riders board at LAX/Metro Transit Center.

How the SoFi Stadium Express works

First, take the C Line or K Line to LAX/Metro Transit Center. Then follow the signs from the platform to the bus plaza and Bus Bay 8. The shuttle drops riders at the stadium parking lot next to Prairie Avenue and Arbor Vitae Street. After the game, riders return to the same spot to catch the free shuttle back.

Buses run every 10 minutes or less, starting three hours before kickoff. Return service starts at the beginning of the fourth quarter. It then continues for 90 minutes after the game, or until every fan has boarded. Metro bus lines 102, 111, 117, 120 and 232 also stop at the transit center, so riders can transfer to the shuttle there.

What the trip costs

The shuttle itself costs nothing, but regular fares apply on the trains and buses that bring you to it. A Metro fare is $1.75 each way, so a round trip is $3.50. Each tap includes two hours of free transfers. Fare capping also stops charges at $5 per day, as long as you tap the same card or phone every time. Children under 6 ride free with a paying adult. For pass prices, see our guide to LA Metro fares.

Parking at Metro stations

Drivers can skip stadium traffic by parking at a station and riding in. Metro lists these C Line lots: Aviation/Imperial for $3, Hawthorne/Lennox for $10, Crenshaw for $3, and Willowbrook/Rosa Parks for $3. Norwalk is free on weekends and holidays and $3 on weekdays. On the K Line, Fairview Heights costs $3, and Redondo Beach is free at all times. Payment is on-site. WallyPark Premier, a private lot outside the transit center, starts at $15.

Tips before you go

Metro suggests leaving extra time, especially for a first trip. Small coolers and picnic baskets are fine if they do not block aisles. However, barbecue grills, flammable items, weapons and oversized items are not allowed. Eating and drinking on vehicles is discouraged, but water is fine. The free Metro app can plan the trip.

Because the service runs through the playoffs, it also matters for the big game. We covered the Super Bowl LXI halftime show announcement earlier this week. For more local team coverage, see our health and sports guides. Check Metro’s SoFi Stadium guide for updates before each game.
