Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Feb. 14, 2027. The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced the pick on Monday night, Oct. 26, according to the Associated Press. The Super Bowl LXI halftime show is the first time the rapper performs the slot himself.
The news confirms what Puck first reported on Oct. 20. At that point the league had not commented, so the Monday announcement settles it.
What the Super Bowl LXI halftime show announcement says
Roc Nation has worked with the NFL on its entertainment programming since 2019. Jay-Z has helped produce earlier halftime shows but did not take the stage. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said that when the league first reached its agreement with Roc Nation, he asked Jay-Z to perform at a time the artist felt was right.
Jay-Z called the moment a dream come true. He tied it to a journey that began with his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt. He also recently closed a 30th-anniversary tour for that album at SoFi Stadium, so the venue is already familiar to him.
What it means for LA
The game falls on Valentine’s Day weekend. As a result, hotels, rideshare demand and traffic around Inglewood will likely peak well before kickoff. Inglewood is also where the new transit connector is under construction, as we covered in our report on the Inglewood Transit Connector groundbreaking.
The show will also add to a busy stretch for the region. The 2028 Olympics bring more events to the same stadium, so the NFL game works as an early test of crowd planning. For sports coverage and other LA game-day news, see our health and sports hub.
What to watch next
The league has not yet said whether Jay-Z will bring guest performers. Ticket sales, stadium security details and any street closures around the stadium usually come out closer to the game. We will update this story when the NFL or the City of Inglewood publishes those details.
Jay-Z has won 25 Grammy Awards from 89 nominations, according to the AP. Recent halftime headliners under the Roc Nation deal include Kendrick Lamar in 2025 and Bad Bunny in 2026.
