The Daily Telescope is an independent news and press release site based in Los Angeles. It first published company announcements, industry news and local stories from 2017 to 2021. After a break of several years, the site returned in 2026 under a new editorial team. You can read more in our note about the relaunch.
Earlier stories are back online at their original addresses and with their original dates. Because the original files were lost, our editors rebuilt them from copies kept in public web archives and rewrote them in their own words, keeping the names, figures and dates unchanged.
What we cover
We publish daily news from across Los Angeles: city services, transit and roads, housing, local business, public health, science and local sports. Alongside the news, our writers produce guides and explainers on money and business, life in Los Angeles and California, science and technology, and health, written to stay useful long after publication. The PR section carries press releases from companies, nonprofits and public institutions.
How we work
Press releases appear under the PR label so readers always know the source of the text. Editorial articles are written by our team, which means we check names, figures and dates before publishing. When we cite a report or a study, we say whose it is and link to it.
Our writers
News is prepared by our LA Newsdesk. Guides are written by staff writers, some of whom publish under pen names. Every piece follows the same editorial standards. Read our Editorial Policy to see how we check facts and correct mistakes.
We do not publish gambling, adult content or promises of easy profit, because our readers come here for information they can rely on.
Questions, corrections and story tips are welcome through our contact page.
