The Daily Telescope Is Back: A Note From Our New Editorial Team

For a few years, this address had nothing to say. From 2017 to 2021, The Daily Telescope published press releases and local stories from Los Angeles and beyond. Then the site went quiet. Today it is publishing again.

We want to be clear from the first line: we are a new editorial team. We are not the people who ran The Daily Telescope before, and we will not pretend to be. We took over a site with a long history, and we think readers deserve to know exactly what that means.

What happened to the archive

Old Daily Telescope stories did not disappear from the web. Wikipedia articles, university pages and news outlets still link to them, and people still follow those links. So our first job was to bring that archive back.

More than 320 earlier stories are online again, at their original addresses and with their original publication dates. The original files were gone, so we rebuilt each piece from copies that survived in public web archives. Our editors rewrote the texts in their own words and kept the facts as they were: names, figures, dates and the substance of every announcement. Press releases still carry the PR label, so you always know when a company is speaking for itself.

If you find a mistake in one of those stories, tell us. We will check it against the sources and fix it.

What we will publish now

The site keeps its four main subjects:

  • Money and business: payments, personal finance, investing, crypto and running a small company.
  • Los Angeles and California: what things cost, where to live, how to find work, and the rules that shape daily life.
  • Science and technology: new tools, research and discoveries, explained without the jargon.
  • Health and sports: practical health questions and the teams and events that Southern California follows.

We will not chase breaking news. Instead, we want to write pieces that stay useful long after the day they appear: guides, explainers and clear answers to the questions people actually search for. When we cover an event, our goal is to explain what it changes and for whom.

How we work

We name our sources and link to them, especially for numbers, studies and official rules. Health articles explain, but they do not replace a doctor. Paid placements, if they appear, will always be labeled. We do not publish gambling, adult content or promises of easy money.

Thank you for reading, and welcome back. Questions, corrections and story ideas are always welcome through our contact page.
