Florida Plastic Surgery Group in Jacksonville now offers virtual consultations to new patients who are considering treatment. The option is also open to post-operative patients who do not need to come into the office. The practice announced the service on December 15, 2020.
The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed many businesses and service providers to adapt, and medical and aesthetic practices are no exception. Florida Plastic Surgery Group first stepped up disinfection, reorganized its offices and changed its scheduling to lower the risk of exposure. It then added a way for current and prospective patients to meet their medical team from home. According to the surgeons, these virtual consultations serve several goals for patients while keeping safety precautions at their highest level.
The practice has offices in Jacksonville, Middleburg and Jacksonville Beach. Before the pandemic, its doctors were used to seeing many people in person who wanted to improve their appearance or treat a physical condition. That changed once the virus spread. The practice needed options for patients who did not feel comfortable visiting, and it also wanted fewer people in the office at once. As a result, it moved consultations online.
Prospective patients fill out a short form on the practice’s website to book a session with one of the doctors. They can then talk about their goals and treatment options by phone or video. Post-operative patients who do not need an in-person follow-up can use the same option. The surgeons say this makes the process both safer and more convenient.
That said, all of the practice’s locations remain fully open for patients who prefer to meet face to face. Strict safety rules apply there. Besides stronger disinfection, every patient is screened at the door, and new procedures help prevent crowding in the waiting room. The doctors say the health and safety of patients and staff come first. In their view, the practice can adapt to this new reality and still deliver the quality of care patients expect.
The group is led by plastic and reconstructive surgeons Dr. Ankit Desai, Dr. Joseph Parks, Dr. Michael Fallucco and Dr. Michael DeFazio. Several of its doctors are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and have been named Top Doctors by Jacksonville Magazine. Its services include breast augmentation, tummy tuck surgery, liposuction, facial plastic surgery and non-surgical skin care. The practice also treats chronic nerve and joint pain, migraine headaches and other conditions.
