Scripps Center for Dental Care in La Jolla has been named to San Diego magazine’s list of Top Dentists. The practice announced the honor for the metro-area list on November 4, 2020. Its team includes Dr. John Weston, a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), and Dr. Nicholas Marongiu, an Accredited Member of the AACD.
The practice is one of only a few in Southern California that bring several dental specialties together under one roof. It also stands out because it has both an AACD Fellow and an AACD Accredited Member on staff. When planning treatment, its in-house cosmetic dentist, periodontist, orthodontist and prosthodontist work on each case together.
The magazine’s list draws on the topDentist database. It covers San Diego-area dentists and specialists nominated by their peers. Each one is then evaluated independently on the quality of care. Finalists are the highest-scoring professionals among the nominees. After that, a detailed review confirms that each one is in good standing with the state dental board. As a result, thousands of nominees shrink to a small group of top practitioners. The list rewards strong work in the field, and it also helps local residents find qualified dentists nearby.
Dr. Weston, Dr. Marongiu and the rest of the specialists said they are honored by the recognition. In their view, the team approach lets them give the best possible care. That holds whether a patient needs a routine check-up, dental implants, porcelain veneers, a smile makeover or emergency treatment.
