BehavioSec Raises $17.5M Series B Investment Led by Trident Capital Cybersecurity to Accelerate Global Expansion

BehavioSec has raised $17.5 million in a Series B round. The company verifies users by the way they type and touch their devices. Trident Capital Cybersecurity led the investment, which was announced in New York.

Two new backers also joined the round, Cisco Investments and the Dutch bank ABN AMRO. Existing investors Octopus Ventures and Conor Venture Partners also put in money. As part of the deal, Alberto Yepez and Ken Gonzalez of Trident will take seats on the BehavioSec board.

Still, the money has two jobs. BehavioSec plans to widen its operations around the world, and it will move its corporate headquarters to the United States. Since the company is based in Stockholm, Sweden, the move marks a clear shift toward America.

BehavioSec calls itself the pioneer of continuous authentication through behavioral biometrics. Its platform reads traits such as keystroke rhythm and finger pressure. That way it can confirm the person using an account is really its owner. Because the check runs in the background, it needs no tokens and no extra steps. As a result, it helps stop fraud and account takeover while keeping things smooth.

The company argues that identity is becoming the new security perimeter. It says its patented technology has already protected billions of transactions for more than 40 million users.

BehavioSec also planned to bring enterprise authentication products to market in early 2018. Partners named for that work include Gemalto, Vasco, Crossmatch and Nuance. With this round, total funding raised by the company comes to almost $26 million.
