Caltrans schedules Cahuenga Pass closures on U.S. 101 in Los Angeles for Monday, Nov. 9, through Friday, Nov. 13. Overnight work on State Route 91 between Cerritos and Gardena runs on the same dates. Neither project closes anything on Nov. 10 or 11 because of Veterans Day.
Cahuenga Pass closures on the 101
On Monday, Nov. 9, and Thursday, Nov. 12, crews close up to three northbound lanes between Highland Avenue and SR-170 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Southbound, up to two lanes close from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The Friday night shift runs later, to 9 a.m. northbound and 8 a.m. southbound on Saturday.
Several freeway connectors also close overnight. The northbound 101 to the Ventura Freeway connector shuts from 11:59 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Monday and Thursday. Caltrans posts a detour for it: Vineland Avenue, Moorpark Street and Tujunga Avenue back to the 101. Ramps at Barham, Universal Studios, Ventura, Lankershim and Vineland close in the same hours.
The $24.3 million project repaves lanes, ramps and shoulders, replaces guardrails and upgrades 23 curb ramps to ADA standards. Chumo Construction Inc. is the contractor, and Caltrans expects completion in summer 2029.
SR-91 sign work from Cerritos to Gardena
On the 91, both directions drop to two lanes overnight between Vermont Avenue and the Orange County line. Eastbound lanes close from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. near Vermont and the 710. Westbound, closures begin at 8 p.m. between Atlantic and Vermont.
Connectors to the 110, 710 and 605 close at set times, and the westbound Alameda Street/Santa Fe Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard ramps are shut for bridge demolition. The $34 million project replaces overhead and roadside signs and lighting, and Security Paving Company, Inc. also expects to finish in summer 2029.
How to plan
Caltrans says schedules can change with weather or operations. So check the Caltrans QuickMap before you leave. Allow extra time, and follow the marked detours and message signs. Nearby residents may hear noise and feel vibration.
Last week’s schedules are in our posts on Cahuenga Pass paving and SR-91 ramp closures. More local roads coverage sits in the Los Angeles and California hub. Full tables of ramps and hours are on the Caltrans pages for U.S. 101 and SR-91.
