LAX Terminal 1 Restaurants: Marathon Burger, Kogi BBQ Open

Marathon Burger and Kogi BBQ opened in LAX Terminal 1 on Oct. 26, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) said. They are the first LAX Terminal 1 restaurants in a larger dining and retail refresh. Mayor Karen Bass and LAWA held a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m.

What the new LAX Terminal 1 restaurants serve

Marathon Burger is a quick-service spot with burgers, fries, hot wings, cocktails and breakfast. This is the brand’s first airport location and its fifth overall. A Marathon Merch pop-up shop sits alongside it.

Kogi BBQ brings Korean-Mexican food to the terminal, including tacos, burritos and quesadillas. It also has a full bar. LAWA’s release did not list opening hours, so check the airport site before you fly.

Part of a bigger refresh

The two openings are phase one. LAWA and its concessions partner ASUR Airports plan to refresh more than 25 shopping and dining locations. They span Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 6, plus the Tom Bradley International Terminal. However, the release did not give dates for the rest, so travelers should expect changes in stages. That said, both brands are rooted in Los Angeles, so the first phase leans local.

In a statement, Bass said the city’s investments at LAX aim to give travelers “a world-class travel experience.” The release also noted that Marathon Burger and Kogi BBQ food trucks served employees on the airfield ramp during the event.

Other LAX work still underway

Dining is one piece of a long list of projects. For example, the airport opened its consolidated Rental Car Center in March, and Terminal 4’s final steel beam went up in May. In August, LAWA won a $289 million FAA grant for new airport access roadways, according to its news releases.

Still, some projects are slower. The automated people mover now looks set for February 2027, as we reported in LAX People Mover Opening Slips to Feb. 2027. Drivers should also know about the Century Boulevard nightly closures through Nov. 13. For more business news, see our money and business guides.
