The Second Coming of Christ, a pre-apocalyptic drama, opens in Los Angeles theaters on Friday, December 8, 2017. The limited run starts at the Laemmle Playhouse 7 on East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena. It comes about a year after the film received a blessing from Pope Francis at the Vatican.
The story follows an atheist woman scientist who is caught in a fight between good and evil at the end of times. Along the way, she learns that true faith can bring about miracles.
The Dove Foundation gave the movie its Faith-Friendly seal. In its review, the group said the film does a good job of pointing to Jesus as mankind’s only hope.
Diana Angelson leads the cast. She is known for Armenia, My Love, and she also wrote the screenplay under the name Diana Busuioc. Jason London of Dazed and Confused co-stars, while Quinton Aaron of The Blind Side, Natalie Byrne of Expendables 3, Al Sapienza of The Sopranos and House of Cards, and Meredith Salinger of The Journey round out the main cast.
Two award-nominated actors also appear. Tom Sizemore, a Golden Globe nominee known for Saving Private Ryan, has a role. So does Sally Kirkland, an Oscar nominee whose credits include JFK and Bruce Almighty.
The film is the first feature from director Daniel Anghelcev. His company, Flawless Productions, produced it together with 7Heaven Productions and FilmBrewery.
Before the public opening, a red carpet world premiere is planned. It takes place on Thursday, December 7, at 7 p.m. at the same Pasadena theater. After that, regular screenings begin the next day.
