SmartAction, an El Segundo company that builds AI-powered customer self-service, has added two experienced executives to its sales team. The company announced the hires on March 1, 2018. They follow a management recapitalization in which SmartAction secured $33 million in strategic growth investments.
Dale Zwizinski joins as senior vice president of North American sales, so he will run the direct sales team. He has a long record of beating quotas at large corporations, Oracle among them. He has also helped start-ups get off the ground. Zwizinski holds an MBA from the Olin Graduate School of Business, and he tends to focus on customer success and return on investment.
Andrew Taylor becomes vice president of worldwide partner strategies. His task, then, is to grow the partner channel. Taylor has worked in direct and indirect sales, partner enablement and sales enablement. His past employers include Sun Microsystems, which Oracle acquired in 2010, as well as Informatica and Plantronics.
The company also promoted Steve Prodger to executive vice president of global sales as part of the expanded leadership team.
Chief executive Tom Lewis said both new leaders bring deep knowledge and skills that the company needs to reach its goals. Since each of them has built sales programs and processes from scratch, he added, SmartAction expects them to sharpen and expand its existing sales and partner functions.
SmartAction describes its product as the first omnichannel customer self-service platform powered by artificial intelligence. Its intelligent virtual agents handle complex requests across voice, SMS text, web chat and social media. Deloitte named the company a Technology Fast 500 recipient in 2016.
