Krona Therapeutics Achieves IFANCA® Halal Certification for The Women’s Healthcare Products

Krona Therapeutics, Inc. has earned Halal certification for its Natavi supplements for women. The company and the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) shared the news from Dedham, Massachusetts, on February 5, 2019.

Certification came after a close review of ingredients, production, packaging and logistics. Meetings with plant staff also showed that Krona was committed to meeting the requirements. Because the products are now IFANCA Halal-certified, they can carry the registered Crescent-M service mark. The mark tells shoppers that a product meets Islamic dietary rules.

Krona wants to give mothers the best chance of delivering healthy babies, and the Natavi line covers three stages. First, Natavi Prima is for women planning a pregnancy. Natavi PNV supports them during pregnancy, while Natavi Lactant is meant for women who are breastfeeding. Each formula is built to closely match the RDA for its stage of early motherhood. They contain key nutrients such as folic acid, iodine, DHA and EPA, among many others. All three have been certified.

Krona President Angel Biaggi said the company wants every woman of childbearing age to have quality products. Such products help prevent abnormal brain development and other birth defects, he explained. That commitment also covers Muslim mothers, he noted. He also called the certification process very efficient.

IFANCA President Muhammad Munir Chaudry, PhD, said his group was delighted to help bring the products to a global audience. Since children are the future, he added, these supplements should help meet their mothers’ nutritional needs and give newborns a healthier start.

Krona is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on new solutions for women and the doctors who treat them. Its consulting board includes pediatricians, OB-GYNs, lactation specialists and nutritionists, which gives it broad insight into women’s health needs. The company uses that input to develop affordable therapies. It also invests in research to find unmet needs, add value to existing treatments and bring new products to market.
