Minneapolis court reporting firm Depo International has launched a 2018 Quality of Service Initiative. The move is a response to price wars, since the industry is changing fast. Large firms are undercutting small ones on cost. Still, Depo International argues they cannot match smaller firms on service.
The initiative centers on the firm’s mission of delivering excellent litigation support while keeping customer value high. Advanced technology, skilled court reporters and strong customer service are the pillars of its business.
A spokesperson said the industry is changing as large firms grow and offer lower prices. What they cannot offer is top-quality service, including never missing a deadline. That is why the firm is tightening quality control this year. Its goal is to beat client expectations on quality as well as delivery, even when deadlines are tight.
What clients get
The firm is women-owned and run by working realtime court reporters. Because of that, its leaders know what matters to clients. It has taken depositions in all 50 states and in more than 30 countries. According to the firm, it is the only court reporting company that never charges for travel. That holds in the U.S. and abroad. A real person answers the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition, on-call reporters can leave at a moment’s notice.
Under the initiative, clients in Minneapolis get guaranteed five-day delivery instead of the usual ten days. The firm describes that as a 50% savings. Clients can also use a mobile app and an online repository. There, scheduled depositions, transcripts and exhibits are available anywhere with WiFi.
The firm bills itself as the Trial Lawyer’s Choice for court reporting, legal support and legal videography. A representative said the team knows legal work demands both speed and accuracy. Clients may pay a little more than at the big conglomerates, the representative said. The difference, though, is the delivery promise and the quality of service.
While much of the market chases low prices, Depo International says its focus stays on clients. For 40 years, the firm has also supported its community. It serves clients in Las Vegas, Chicago and Minneapolis.
