Two Los Angeles yoga instructors are teaming up with a Torrance recovery studio for an afternoon of yoga and cold therapy. Melissa Okabe and Kalina Salvador will host a special event with Beach Cities Cryo on May 19, 2018, from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m.
The yoga class is free. After it, guests can book cryotherapy, infrared and compression sessions at reduced prices. Space is limited, so spots must be reserved in advance.
The afternoon follows a set schedule. Check-in and waivers run from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m., and the yoga session follows until 5:00 p.m. Then, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., guests move on to their treatments.
For the event, a cryo session costs $29 instead of the usual $75. Thirty-minute infrared and compression sessions are $15 each, down from $25.
Beach Cities Cryo offers several recovery therapies, including cold, heat, compression and massage. The studio aims them at pain relief and faster recovery.
The event also serves as a preview of a bigger trip. Okabe and Salvador are planning a Hawaii Yoga and Wellness Retreat on the Big Island from October 4 to 8, 2018. It is limited to 15 people, while Beach Cities Cryo and other local businesses are sponsoring it.
Okabe teaches Vinyasa Flow and Restorative Yoga in Los Angeles. Salvador is a certified personal trainer and a 500-hour YogaWorks instructor, and she teaches Vinyasa Flow, Restorative and Prenatal Yoga.
