Healthicity has joined athenahealth’s More Disruption Please (MDP) program. The move brings its compliance platform to the healthcare providers that use athenahealth. Healthicity was one of two applications added to the program in March 2018.
Healthicity builds software for healthcare compliance and medical auditing. Its compliance platform helps providers check how well their compliance programs work, and it also helps them see how efficient their compliance auditing is. The company’s main product in this area is called Compliance Manager.
Barry Johnson, the president of Healthicity, said many healthcare organizations still rely on spreadsheets and file folders. Even today, they use these tools to document and audit their compliance programs. He said the company believes it can help them do better.
Healthicity started in 2015, when it was launched by the AAPC. Since then, the company has focused on making compliance and auditing simpler for healthcare organizations.
The MDP program was launched by athenahealth in 2011. It works both as a partner program and as an incubator for independent companies. In practice, members build products and services that connect to the athenahealth network. The program partners with entrepreneurs, providers and companies, and it aims to help healthcare professionals cope with change.
For providers on athenahealth, the partnership adds Healthicity to the list of tools offered through the program.
