Chinese electronics maker Firstsing has launched a wired internet LAN adapter for the Nintendo Switch, Wii U and Wii. The company unveiled it at a tech convention in Shenzhen.
At the launch, the owners of Firstsing said the adapter makes it easier for Nintendo players to get a stable, fast internet connection. They added that it suits online multiplayer games well, since it plugs straight into the Nintendo Switch Dock.
Company spokesperson Cherry Chen explained that the device links the Switch to the internet over a wired LAN. It comes in the form of a USB stick. As a result, gamers can play network-ready games without worrying about sudden disconnects or lag, she said.
The adapter also works with PCs. According to Chen, it is useful for a computer that has no wired LAN port of its own. Setup is simple, because users only need to plug it into a USB port, and no driver software is required.
Chen said the adapter is compatible with the Nintendo Switch and follows the USB 2.0 standard. Its top data transfer rate is 480 Mbps.
The company’s CEO and managing director called the adapter one of Firstsing’s flagship products in its gaming and accessories line. He told the press that the company wants to take it to a global stage. Firstsing already works with distributors in 200 countries, and he said he hopes the launch will win over many more serious gamers.
Firstsing is a leading manufacturer and supplier of consumer electronics in China. It has an office in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, as well as another in Kitakyushu, Japan.
