DAT Solutions Wins Silver “Stevie” Award for Customer Service

DAT Solutions, the Portland, Oregon company behind North America’s largest spot freight marketplace, has won a Silver Stevie Award. The honor came in the Contact Center of the Year category. DAT announced the win on March 2, 2018, after a ceremony held on February 23 in Las Vegas.

The company entered with a presentation titled A Road to Professional Development, Caring Culture, and Customers for Life. Competition was stiff, since the Stevie Awards drew more than 2,500 nominations that year.

Senior vice president Don Thornton said the award reflects DAT’s commitment to customer satisfaction. This is not the team’s first honor, either. DAT has won ICMI’s Award for Best Small Contact Center three times, in 2007, 2010 and 2017. It is also the only company to receive that award more than once.

Laura Mendoza, director of customer service, said her team handles as many as 25,000 calls, emails and chat sessions in an average month. To keep up with that volume, DAT has invested in training facilities, internal systems, and phone and chat technology.

DAT’s marketplace carries more than 700,000 load posts every day. Its database also holds more than $1 trillion in freight market transactions, which carriers and brokers use to price loads.

The company was founded in 1978. Today it operates as a business unit of Roper Technologies, which trades on Nasdaq under the symbol ROP, while its headquarters remain in Portland.
