Gar Wood Securities has been named a winner of the Advisor of the Year awards for 2017. The honor went to two of its professionals, Christopher Calvert and Darren Day. The firm shared the news in a release in December 2017.
The Advisor of the Year program recognizes local professionals who work in middle market mergers and acquisitions. Since awards are given by category, each winner is tied to a specific type of deal work.
Day said he and Calvert were honored for their work in the expansion capital category, which covers deals under $25 million.
The winners were named during the annual awards program and ceremony on October 26. BNY Mellon Wealth Management was the title sponsor of the event.
Gar Wood Securities has worked with active market participants since 2004. It is an agency broker-dealer, so it does not trade for its own account. The firm says this setup reduces conflicts of interest for its clients.
Its Private Capital Group, meanwhile, helps private companies raise capital. That work covers early-stage funding, growth capital, recapitalizations and funding for special situations. The firm also offers prime brokerage services, including capital introduction, clearing and settlement, and custody of securities trades.
For Calvert and Day, the award puts their capital-raising work in the spotlight within the firm’s wider business.
