24/7 Kid Doc Announces Telemedicine Pilot Program with FL Day Care Centers

24/7 Kid Doc, Inc., a telemedicine company traded over the counter under the symbol TVMD, is launching a pilot program with two day care centers in Jacksonville, Florida. The company describes them as among the oldest and most highly rated day care centers in the country. The Savannah, Georgia, company announced the program on February 7, 2018.

Under the pilot, the first two of eight child care centers will get around-the-clock access to pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners. The service runs on the company’s proprietary Connect-a-Doc telemedicine system. It costs $9.95 per month per student.

The program also changes how the company earns money. Rather than billing insurance companies or Medicaid, this second economic model collects revenue directly from families.

Care does not stop when children leave the center. When kids are not at day care, parents can start a HIPAA-compliant video visit with a medical provider from a home computer, a TV or a cell phone. A new mobile app, due within weeks, will provide that access. The company also plans to market the app to new parents for use during a baby’s first year.

Meanwhile, 24/7 Kid Doc is still signing up parents in its Montgomery County School District program in Georgia. It is also pitching its school-based model to other districts across the Southeast.

CEO Tim Shannon said the new strategy should start producing revenue almost immediately. In his view, focusing on private schools, day cares and individual parents lets the company skip the slow work of marketing to public schools. It also avoids long waits for payments from third parties.
