LA County Parks Fall Programs: Free After-School, Harvest Fest

LA County Parks released its fall 2026 programming guide on Oct. 27, with free after-school care, youth sports and seasonal events at county parks. The most time-sensitive items come first: Día de los Muertos events run Oct. 30 to Nov. 6, and the Harvest Festival runs Nov. 10 to 24 at 50 parks. These LA County Parks fall programs mostly serve kids and teens, but some target seniors and adults.

Events in the next few weeks

The Trick or Treat Village runs Oct. 20 to 31 at 59 county parks. After that, Día de los Muertos celebrations take place at three nature centers: San Gabriel River Park on Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m., Stoneview Nature Center on Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and San Dimas Nature Center on Nov. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. Then the Harvest Festival follows from Nov. 10 to 24. Specific times and locations are on the county parks website.

Free and low-cost LA County Parks fall programs for youth

The Every Body Plays after-school program is free. It runs Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. through May 21, 2027, and covers homework help, a tech lab, arts and crafts, sports and field trips. A snack program for youth 18 and under runs from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at 49 parks.

The free Drop Zone Golf program serves ages 11 to 14 with little or no golf experience. It started Oct. 25 at Whittier Narrows Golf Course, and weekly 90-minute sessions run through March 2027. El Cariso starts Dec. 5 and Maggie Hathaway starts Dec. 6. Registration is required, and spots are limited to 21 youth per session.

Fall sports leagues for ages 4 to 17 still have spots. They cover flag football, soccer, cheerleading and basketball clinics, at $25 per season. Winter basketball registration is also open.

Pools, seniors and jobs

Seasonal pools and splash pads are closed, but year-round pools stay open. Learn to Swim costs $25 per session for ages 7 to 17, and lap swim costs $80 for 30 punches. Morning sessions are free for adults 65 and older and for people with disabilities. Adults 55 and older can join fitness classes, walks and field trips, but costs are not listed.

Young adults can also apply to Youth@Work, a paid work experience program for county residents ages 14 to 24. Applicants must be authorized to work and available at least 10 hours a week.

Register for sports and classes at the county reservations site. For other local events, see our Los Angeles hub, including our guide to LA Metro fares for getting there.
