SAN DIEGO, Nov. 16, 2017 — SELECT, the black card startup that aims to offer access and benefits that surpass even the world's most exclusive and expensive cards, announced its expansion to Orange County and San Diego.
The announcement comes approximately one year after the company announced its expansion to Los Angeles, which quickly became the company's second largest membership community.
Since launching just over three years ago, the company has rapidly grown its community to over 15,000 members, with tens of thousands of hopefuls currently residing on the waitlist. According to founder and CEO Carlo Cisco, SELECT is a way to provide members with unlimited access to premier benefits at top venues, along with high-quality, VIP experiences and treatment to which nobody outside of the program has access. At the same time, SELECT provides the top-tier of brands and businesses with a profitable way to both acquire and retain their target clientele.
The company has partnered with over 700 brands and businesses to date, endowing its members with access to premium benefits at over 600,000 premier partner locations. SELECT partners include top-rated local restaurants and nightlife venues, as well as elite global brands in travel, retail, entertainment, and more. Benefits include perks such as sizable discounts or complimentary drinks for the member's full party at top-tier restaurants, unpublished rates at over 500,000 hotels, ongoing special deals at retailers like Indochino & Nicole Miller, and even VIP access to concerts and sporting events. Unlike traditional credit card rewards, all of SELECT's benefits are available to members anytime and can be utilized an unlimited number of times.
SELECT cardholders also enjoy invitations to members-only events, which include complimentary cocktail hours, fitness classes, speaker series and more extravagant events such as NYFW, LA Fashion Week, Art Basel, Miami Music Week, private yacht parties and concerts.
In order to receive SELECT benefits, prospective members apply through a fairly competitive process where they cite biographical, educational, and career information as well as general interests. Cisco notes somewhere between 30 and 40 percent of all applicants are ultimately offered membership.
The company will host its official San Diego launch party Friday November 17th at Oxford Social Club in collaboration with Movoto Real Estate. While the launch party is Friday, Members can already enjoy benefits at dozens of premier partners throughout Orange Count and San Diego including Mastro's Ocean Club, Mastro's Steakhouse, Splashes Laguna Beach, Sushi Roku, Parq Restaurant & Nightlife venue, Brooklyn Girl and many others.
