SUZHOU, China November 15, 2017
Suzhou Tourism introduces the second installment of a four-part master class series showcasing the destination’s authentic traditions with the launch of the “Suzhou Dumpling Master” contest on Instagram. In collaboration with travel personality and influencer Kelley Ferro, this one-week video-centric contest is designed to educate travelers about Suzhou’s local cuisine and culinary delicacies, specifically the art of making the perfect dumpling. From today through 11:59pm EST on November 22, 2017, Instagram users will have the opportunity to enter to win by ‘liking’ the video post, ‘following’ the @visitsuzhou channel, and ‘tagging’ a friend by leaving a ‘comment’ on the contest video.
Through the firsthand dumpling cooking lesson experienced by Kelley Ferro, the video provides users a look at what it is like to make traditional dumplings, from collecting the ingredients at a local market to preparing them alongside a native family. Users are also eligible to participate in the contest by following the same steps to enter on Kelley Ferro’s Instagram dumpling video post. Selected at random, the winner’s prize will include a trip for one person to Suzhou, inclusive of roundtrip coach airfare from a major gateway in the United States or Canada, four-nights’ accommodations, meals, an opportunity to “master” all four aspects of the campaign master class series – calligraphy, dumplings, silk, and bonsai – and a tour of the destination.
The “Suzhou Dumpling Master” is the second of four online events to debut as part of the destination’s current 12-month social media program, “MadeInSuzhou: Exploring Suzhou’s Local Specialties Through Digital Experiences.” The events are designed to educate and engage social media users about the elements that make up Suzhou’s local traditions and cultural offerings through fun and captivating content that allows them to ‘virtually’ experience the destination. In conjunction with the campaign’s online initiatives, Suzhou Tourism will engage well-known public sites in North America to further support the new program’s theme, which will include hosting four events across top-tier key markets such as New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
Travelers can follow the campaign by visiting the website TravelToSuzhou.com or following the destination’s official hashtags #TravelSuzhou and #MadeInSuzhou, as well as Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter channels (@VisitSuzhou).
