November 09, 2017 – Singapore : Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)'s executive education courses have also paved the way to a new era of learning.

Now there is grand news for those aspiring management leaders looking for a better career. SIM Professional Development (SIM PD), the executive development wing of the SIM, has officially joined hands with The Kenya Institute of Management (KIM). This grand endeavour will create awareness about leadership and management development in Kenya.

There is a three year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that officially allows SIM to share with its Kenyan equivalent Singapore’s vast experience and professional competence on subjects like leadership, governance and understanding management; regulation of institutional efficiencies in the healthcare business; development of human resources in private and public markets; services regarding infrastructure in maritime and aviation business; and awards for skills to excel in business and creating benchmarks.

This collaboration will strengthen the relationship between these nations. Both Singapore and Kenya will exchange knowledge to enhance the international competency of their respective economies. Moreover, Kenya has the potential to be known as Africa’s greatest nations, as it is East and Central Africa’s largest economy by GDP. It has a growing youth population; its current population being about 46.1 million, which grows by approximately one million every year. Thus, in 2017, it is expected to have an economic growth by 5.8%. Kenya’s most important goals is to improve healthcare and educational prospects, proper institutional governance and promoting higher investment for increased business productivity of firms.

Mr Muriithi Ndegwa, the Executive Director and CEO of KIM, accompanied by his team came to Singapore to take part in a five-day training programme for leadership and management, which is the first collaboration with SIM. The team comprised of different experienced professionals from senior management teams of both public and private sector companies.

KIM was established in 1954, and it is a professional management institute that is like a blessing to the aspiring citizens of Kenya. It is ranked number two among the top business schools in Kenya. It is important to note that such a collaboration of SIM PD is the first with an African country, and hopefully, we will see many such successful endeavours in the years to come.
