RaySearch today announced the first release of RayCare*, an innovative new oncology information system (OIS) designed to connect the different oncology disciplines, boosting efficiency and ensuring optimal use of resources.
The first product release, RayCare 1, provides workflow and task management support for the treatment planning process and an integrated planning experience in combination with RayStation 7. Communication around the planning process is consolidated through the messaging and comment system built into task management.
To enable automatic assignment and handover of tasks, RayCare 1 also supports the care team for each patient. The built-in radiation oncology PACS is fully integrated with the workflow management system, leveraging automated imaging workflows, and patient demographics can be automatically synchronized with other hospital systems. In addition to the workflow and task management features, RayCare 1 and RayStation 7 combine to provide treatment scheduling, management and delivery support for IBA’s proton systems and Accuray’s TomoTherapy ® systems.
Over subsequent releases, RayCare will evolve into a machine learning OIS with unique capabilities to coordinate oncology tasks, supporting comprehensive cancer care organized around each patient’s needs. This goal reflects the fact that many cancer patients receive a combination of treatment types, driving the need for combined workflows for radiation therapy, chemotherapy and surgery.
Johan Löf, CEO of RaySearch, says: “RayCare is fundamentally different to other OIS systems and will be a true game changer. There is a great need for an OIS that supports integrated workflows based on each patient’s reality, and I am extremely proud that we are now able to realize this dream. We have developed RayCare in partnership with some of the world’s leading cancer centers, and I would like to thank them all for the engagement and clinical expertise that has made it possible.”
RayCare represents the future of OIS technology, developed from the ground up by RaySearch to support the complex logistical challenges of modern, large-scale radiation therapy centers.
RayStation integrates all RaySearch’s advanced treatment planning solutions into a flexible treatment planning system. It combines unique features such as multi-criteria optimization tools with full support for 4D adaptive radiation therapy. It also includes functionality such as RaySearch’s market-leading algorithms for IMRT and VMAT optimization and highly accurate dose engines for photon, electron, proton and carbon ion therapy. The system is built on the latest software architecture and features a graphical user interface with state-of-the-art usability.
