K·FISH, the Next Global Superfood, Enters the U.S. Market

Korean Ministry Officials, Executives, Retailers, and Buyers Gathered Last Week to Celebrate the Brand Launch in the U.S.

Los Angeles, CA, November 16, 2017 — The brand launch of Korean Fishery Exports National Brand, K FISH, was held at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills last week on November 9. It aimed to promote the quality of Korean seafood and enhance its global competitiveness.

The event showcased the 11 categories available for export, including: Gim, flatfish, abalone, Miyok, conger, seasoned squid, oysters, red snow crab, fish cake and tuna (canned and retort). Over 100 people attended the event and guests included seafood buyers, Korean Ministry officials, K FISH executives, retailers and media. All products were on display to give guests an idea of the variety and quality of Korean seafood, and then samples were prepared so guests could taste the difference.

The K FISH launch event was hosted by Julie Chang, a local news anchor. Chang began the day's events by introducing the K FISH brand stressing the sanitary ecological environment for its production, strict brand usage guidelines and rigorous quality management. Brand introduction was followed by a presentation by seafood expert Chef Kerry Heffernan, and Steve Broad, CEO of Gimme Health Foods, a major distributor of Korean Gim. They each shared their experience with K FISH products from their perspective channels, Broad from retail and Heffernan, through product selection, recipe development and preparation at his restaurants.

“The K FISH brand will set a new standard for the quality export products of Korean seafood. Its brand use qualification and product quality will be regularly and thoroughly evaluated. We hope the K FISH launch in LA will contribute to the expansion of K FISH products in the U.S.”
