California Sea-Kings ABA League Professional Men’s Basketball Team to play on Saturday, November 18th at Monterey Peninsula College

November 18, 2017 – MPC is the site of the exciting home games of the California Sea-Kings, an ABA Professional Men’s Basketball team.

The California Sea-Kings are the only professional basketball team honored as an “Official Purple Heart Sports Team”.

The coach of the California Sea-Kings is Laurian Watkins, a 30 year basketball trainer and coach who worked with Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, among hundreds of other basketball players. He is the founder of California Sports Academy which has provided professional level training for aspiring athletes for over 20 years and has coached players all over the world. He holds a BS degree from University of North Texas and an MA degree from Azusa Pacific University. He is fluent in Spanish, Arabic and Tagalog. He moves to the Monterey Peninsula from Southern California.

The California Sea-Kings organization is headed by Wash Stallworth, President/CEO, an experienced basketball coach with a patented training system. Vic Goodwin is Vice President Director of Basketball Operations, a basketball trainer and founder of the Crossover Academy. Dr. Ed Valeau joins as COO. He is the Past President of Hartnell College and a partner in The ELS Group.

About the ABA:
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is a men’s professional basketball league which has grown to become the largest professional sports league in the world. The ABA was established in 1967 and merged with the National Basketball Association in 1976. Some of the ABA notable players include Julius Irving (Dr. J), George Gervin (The Iceman), Ricky Barry, Moses Malone along with many others. The ABA was reformed as its own league in 2000 in partnership with the NBA and has been operating in harmony ever since.
