The rise in demand for phenol and its derivatives for various applications is one of the major factors driving the global cumene market. Bisphenol A (BPA) is a key ingredient in the production of polycarbonate, and epoxy resins is the largest consumer of phenol. BPA is used regardless of the health and safety-related issues associated with it. Another major application of phenol is its use in the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins.
