PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 10, 2017 — Continuing her kathy ireland® Worldwide and Level Brands' dedication to promoting social consciousness initiatives, particularly those guiding young people into new career opportunities in technology, Kathy Ireland has partnered with American Family Insurance to produce mentoring programs around the country to achieve those aims. Portland will be the launch site of the better-futures-in-technology effort Saturday, November 11.
Ms. Ireland, Chairman Emeritus and Chief Brand Strategist of Level Brands and Chair, CEO and Chief Designer of kathy ireland® Worldwide, who also serves as American Family brand ambassador, will be joined in the new mentoring initiative by representatives from Amazon and ChickTech, as well as 75-100 mother/guardian-daughter pairs, and Portland-area American Family agents and employees.
The program will kick off with American Family agents and employees joining the role-model entrepreneur for One Saturday to Dream Fearlessly — an event designed to inspire young girls to pursue STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) careers. The event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11, 1-4 p.m. at Pure Space, 1315 NW Overton Street, Portland, Oregon and is produced by Level Brands' entertainment and event production entity, EE1.
Throughout the afternoon, participants will take part in several activities, including: Build an Alexa Skill with guidance from Amazon; Create Your Vision, a canvas to visualize dreams and goals; Soft Circuit Kits, building bracelets with ChickTech's soft circuit kits that show participants they can create an actual piece of technology; and Video Game Design, learning basic programming and problem-solving skills in a fun way through building a simple video game.

Ms. Ireland received the “Dream Big” Award for “her innovation, compassion, and long standing commitment to bettering the lives of at-risk youth.”
