Los Angeles, CA, February 13, 2018 — A children’s book to help families cope during the dark days of Trump’s Presidency.

The children’s book, “Emma and the Big Orange Monster: A Tale of Unity and Bravery, was published to help parents, educators, and counselors guide children through the dark days of Donald Trump’s Presidency. As a psychology graduate focusing on Marriage and Family Therapy, Masti Lashkari spent much of her time working with varies families across the Greater Los Angeles Area. She witnessed an increase in anxiety and feelings of isolation in children as young as four-years-old after the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Lashkari understood that if parents and educators did not find a new means to help empower children to overcome their fears, then the damaging effects of Trump’s presidency could resonate for years.

In a recent article by PopSugar, Angela Ellis calls Emma’s tale “A book for kids in the age of Trump. Lashkari does an outstanding job of painting the importance of bravery to help kids realize their potential and how coming together can help unite a community during times of high duress.

Since Trump’s presence on the world stage, children have witnessed the U.S. president bully and intimidate others based on their gender, race, religion, and even disabilities. Through her book, Lashkari demonstrates to children the consequences of being a bully and how bullies should not be feared but challenged. She does an incredible job of delivering an uplifting message, by using children’s perspectives and stories she heard while working as a therapist, to help raise their morale. As Lashkari notes, “This book is not about my political views. In times where we have failed to give children a president worthy of their intelligence, I wanted to deliver a children’s book that created hope and unity.
