Jakarta, 13 December 2017 – FinAccel, the parent company of Kredivo, the fastest growing ecommerce checkout and digital lender in Indonesia, today announced the appointment of Honey Mittal as Chief Product Officer and Syafri Bahar as Vice President, Data Science. The addition of Honey and Syafri is the first expansion of FinAccel’s executive management team outside of the founders and is aimed at strengthening the company’s product and data science initiatives.
Honey was previously SVP, Product at wego.com, based out of Singapore, where he lead the mobile team to build one of the most well known travel apps in the Southeast Asia and Middle East region, and Syafri, an ex-International Maths Olympiad participant, was most recently lead quant at Rabobank International in the Netherlands, where he was responsible for credit risk modeling frameworks for both banking and credit portfolios.
“FinAccel is really about two things: building top-notch products that disrupt the credit/lending space and squeezing as much as possible from the terabytes of consumer data that we own. It’s a natural consequence that we are looking for and attracting world-class talent in these areas. We couldn’t be more excited that individuals of the calibre of Honey and Syafri are choosing to join us on this journey of helping Indonesians spend and save better,” said Akshay Garg, cofounder and CEO of FinAccel.
Honey and Syafri are joining FinAccel at a time when the company is being increasingly recognized as one of the most innovative and pioneering companies in the credit and consumer product space in Southeast Asia. Recently, Google recognized Kredivo twice – once as a Featured App on the Play store, and more recently as a Hidden Gem for 2017 – a very rare honour. On the credit/lending side, the company now boasts of defaults at <5%, a rate that matches the very best banks and consumer finance companies in Indonesia, by mining digital data using advanced machine learning.
In a joint statement, Honey and Syafri said, “Indonesia is going through a digital revolution and with the under-penetration of credit in the economy, FinAccel is leading the charge when it comes to building hi-quality and impactful digital products such as Kredivo. We are really excited to join at a time when Kredivo is expanding beyond ecommerce financing into personal loans and FinAccel is launching new products that help consumers spend and save responsibly.”
FinAccel is a financial technology company that leverages deep data analytics across users’ digital footprint to automate credit risk scoring and access to credit in Southeast Asia, the 7th largest economy in the world and home to nearly 10% of the world’s population. FinAccel’s flagship product, Kredivo “Buy now, Pay later”, enables ecommerce buyers to apply and qualify for instant credit and pay back over time. Merchants using Kredivo benefit from providing Point of Sale financing using a 2-click checkout to all eligible buyers. The company is backed by leading investors such as Jungle Ventures, NSI Ventures, GMO Venture Partners, AlphaJWC and 500 Startups.
